Oral Prophylaxis
"Basic cleaning"
Oral prophylaxis is a preventive dental procedure aimed at maintaining oral health and preventing dental diseases, such as cavities and gum disease. Plaque, tartar (calculus), and stain removal from teeth above gum margin by use of ultrasonic scaler, hand instruments, and polishing. Oral cancer screening, periodontal assessment, oral health education and nutritional counseling are included.
Scaling and Root Planing
"Deep cleaning"
Scaling and root planing is a deep cleaning procedure used to treat gum disease (periodontal disease). It involves the removal of plaque and tartar (calculus) from below the gum line, helping to restore gum health. Can be performed locally or by quadrant and with topical and/or local anesthetic.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride treatments are professional dental applications designed to strengthen tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay. Fluoride, a naturally occurring mineral, has been proven to help remineralize enamel and reduce the risk of cavities.
Denture cleaning

Silver Diamine Fluoride
Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is a topical medication used in dentistry to treat and prevent dental caries (cavities) and dentinal hypersensitivity. It contains silver, which has antibacterial properties, and fluoride, which helps to remineralize and strengthen tooth enamel.

Welcome to my practice! I’m Cheryll Kidd, a dedicated dental hygienist based in sunny San Diego with ten years of experience specializing in portable dental care for individuals with disabilities and the elderly. Caring for her grandmother, who suffered from dementia, deeply influenced her decision to start a portable dental hygiene practice. As her condition progressed, she realized how challenging it was for her to receive proper oral care. Traveling to appointments became difficult, and she saw firsthand how essential dental hygiene is for overall health, especially for those with limited mobility or cognitive impairments. This experience ignited a passion in her to create a solution that brings compassionate, accessible dental care directly to those who need it most—especially the elderly and others in similar situations.
